Description

1 in 10 women have PCOS, a condition that can lead to irregular periods, weight gain, acne, other symptoms of hormonal imbalance, and fertility challenges. Women with PCOS may not release an egg regularly, which makes it harder to conceive. Even without obvious symptoms, some women still have irregular ovulation, making pregnancy difficult.

Unfortunately, many diagnoses are made quickly, missing important underlying factors that contribute to each woman’s condition. This screening assesses key hormones and checks for signs of insulin resistance (a common feature of PCOS) to provide clearer insights into your condition.

  • FSH, LH, Prolactin, and Estrogen: These hormones give insight into how well your ovaries are functioning, check for possible reasons for irregular periods, and whether there are hormonal imbalances that can affect ovulation.
  • Testosterone and DHEAS: Elevated levels of these male hormones can cause symptoms like acne, hair loss, or excess facial hair, commonly seen in PCOS.
  • Thyroid Function: A healthy thyroid is essential for regulating hormones and maintaining a regular menstrual cycle. We’ll check to ensure your thyroid is supporting your overall reproductive health.
  • Insulin Resistance: A core issue in PCOS, insulin resistance can contribute to weight gain and increases your risk of diabetes.

Note: Depending on your test results, this screening may be followed by an ultrasound scan and additional investigations.
